The Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow was a Canadian prototype Cold War fighter. The machine was first flew in 1958, but never entered mass production. Only 5 prototypes were built. The propulsion was provided by two turbojet engines Pratt and Whitney J75-P-3 . The main armament of the aircraft was to be air-to-air missiles, such as AIR-2 Genie or AIM-4 Falcon.
The Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow was developed to replace the CF-100 Canuck aircraft in the line. It was assumed that compared to its predecessor, it would have much better performance, especially the maximum speed, which was to exceed 2 Ma, as well as be much more technologically advanced and have a different design and aerodynamic delta layout of the wings. Despite the fact that the project developed successfully and the prototype examples did not show any fundamental flaws in the design, the project was discontinued in 1959 for political reasons. This decision caused a lot of controversy and is often perceived as completely unjustified in terms of content.
