Planet Models 186 Blohm and Voss P.209

The Blohm und Voss P.209 was a project by a German WWII jet fighter. The drive was supposed to be provided by a single Heinkel HeS 011 or BMW 003B turbojet engine. The deck armament was supposed to consist of three 30mm Mk.108 cannons. The machine has never been tested, much less entered mass production.

The Blohm und Voss P.209 was designed in 1944 by a team of engineers led by Richard Vogt. In essence, two designs for a fighter named P.209 were created. The first one (designation: P.209 01) was to a large extent a development of the P.208 project, but using a jet engine instead of a piston engine. The second version (P.209 02) assumed the use of wings with a negative slant, a very short fuselage containing a power unit with a classic tail. It was also planned to use the BMW 003 engine instead of the Heinkel HeS 011. None of the versions of the Blohm und Voss P.209 was ever realized and it did not go beyond the design stage.
