96 pieces: 24 marines, 56 sailors, 8 naval cannon
During the Napoleonic Wars (1799-1815), each battleship and frigate of the Royal Navy had on board a smaller or larger unit of the Royal Marines. This formation was established in 1664 and was relatively quickly subordinated to the British Admiralty. Until the outbreak of the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Marines took part in many landing operations and more than one sea battle during the Seven Years' War (1756-1763) or during the US War of Independence (1775-1783). One of their most famous actions was the capture of Belle Ile Island in 1761. During the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Marines had two tasks. On the one hand, they protected officers, took care of maintaining discipline on their own units and conducted short-range fire fighting with enemy marines or conducted / repelled boarding, but were also responsible for carrying out amphibious tasks. The Royal Marines at that time kept their red jackets and white uniform pants. It is worth adding that in the years 1810-1815 there were three battalions of the Royal Marines intended for land combat, which were used in combat in Portugal, Spain and North America.
