Choroszy Modelbud A95 Ca-164

The Caproni Ca.164 was an Italian biplane training and training aircraft from the interwar period and World War II. The flight of the prototype took place in November 1938 - serial production started shortly after. During its course, about 380 aircraft of this type (including machines used in France) were created. The drive was provided by a single Alfa Romeo 115 engine with 185 hp. The machine most often did not have a permanent on-board armament.

The Caproni Ca.164 was developed to replace the in-line but primarily in training units of the Ca.100 aircraft. Like its predecessor, it was created in a biplane layout, but it had improved aerodynamics and had a power unit with greater maximum power. At the same time, however, the machine had very poor piloting properties, which put into question its usefulness in training future pilots. However, despite this lack, the Regia Aeronautica, as well as the French military aviation, decided to put the Caproni Ca.164 into service. During World War II, machines of this type were used on a small scale, inter alia, for reconnaissance tasks during the battles in the Balkans in 1941.
