The Christie T-3 was a prototype American tank from the interwar period. The first prototypes of the car were created in 1930, but the car never entered mass production. The tank was powered by a single engine Liberty with 400hp. The armament consisted of one 37mm cannon and a single 7.62mm Browning M1919 machinegun housed in a rotating turret.
The T-3 tank was developed by the American inventor and designer John Walter Christie. The biggest technological novelty used in this car at that time was the suspension (the so-called Christie's suspension), which allowed the T-3 to run on both tracks and wheels. Thanks to this solution, the tank performed well in the field, but it could also move along the road at a speed unattainable for tracked vehicles of the time. The T-3 tank, despite the production of several copies and successful results in field tests, did not arouse much interest in the US Army command. However, it was of great interest to decision-makers in the USSR who, based on the T-3, introduced the BT-2, BT-5 or BT-7 tanks. The latter also later became the basis for the development of the famous T-34.
