DFS Habicht (Polish hawk) was a German training and sports glider from the interwar period and World War II. The prototype flight took place in 1936. The length of this aircraft was 6.58 meters with a wingspan of 13.6 meters. The own weight of the glider reached 250 kilograms. The DFS Habicht was designed by Hans Jacobs and was produced by the Deutsche Forschungsanstatlt für Segelflug (DFS for short). The glider was constructed for the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, where it attracted considerable recognition from the public and professional observers. The glider was characterized by high maneuverability and very good piloting properties. Its improved version (Stummel-Habicht) was used by the Luftwaffe during World War II to train Me-163 and Heinkel Hs-162 pilots. Only a few DFS Habicht and Stummel-Habicht gliders survived the war.
