Ardpol AC-006 Fiat A-12 engine

Fiat A.12 is an Italian aircraft engine from World War I and the interwar period. The first successful start-up of this engine took place in 1916. Serial production started in the same year and lasted until 1919. The length of this engine was 178 cm, 56 cm wide and 113 cm high. The mass of the "dry" power unit of this type oscillated around 415 kilograms. The engine had 6 inline cylinders and its capacity was almost perfectly 22 liters. It was liquid-cooled and was able to generate maximum power from 245hp to 300hp, which was a very good value at the time of this engine's inception. The Fiat A.12 aircraft engine was developed as a far-reaching development of the successful Fiat A.10 engine. The power unit in question was at one time probably the largest aircraft engine in Europe with a large curb weight, but it more than compensated for it with a large maximum power, efficiency and reliability. The Fiat A.12 engine was installed in many Italian planes, for example: Caproni Ca.4, Ca.5 or Ca.46, Pomilio PE or SIAI S.16. It was also installed in French (Breguet 14) and British (Airco DH.4 and DH.9) airplanes.
