Planet Models 224 Focke Wulf P.II

The Focke-Wulf P.II was a WWII German jet-propelled fighter project. The drive was to be provided by a single engine Junkers Jumo 004B. The deck armament was to consist of four cannons: two 30 mm Mk.108 and two 20 mm MG 151. The plane has never been tested, much less entered mass production.

The design of the Focke-Wulf P.II aircraft was developed in 1943 by Kurt Tank, who relied on many solutions used in the production of the Fw-190 aircraft. The machine was to have a classic wing and vertical tail layout, a pilot's cabin in the nose of the fuselage and an unusual engine location: in a special nacelle under the fuselage. The design, however, had several disadvantages. First of all, such a low location of the engine, in addition close to the front wheel of the chassis, could lead to frequent damage to the drive unit. In addition, in the event of an emergency landing, there was a real risk of destruction and explosion of the engine and, consequently, destruction of the entire plane. Finally, it was not decided to produce the Focke-Wulf P.II.
