Future Boy Conan (jap. Mirai Shonen Konan) is a series of Ana-convention science fiction cartoons directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The series was broadcast in Japan in 1978 and gained a lot of popularity, which led to the creation of the second series of films broadcast in 1999-2000. The story of the first series of films begins in 2008, on an Earth torn by armed conflicts and natural disasters that led to the decline of human civilization, as well as the flooding of a large part of the land by the oceans. Only a handful of people manage to escape this apocalypse, and among them are the parents of the main character of the series - a boy named Conan, who is born in 2010. Shortly thereafter, he goes on a journey with his friend Lana, exploring the lands that have not been sunk, and interacting with the survivors. One of their means of travel is an airplane (maybe better: an airship) called the Giant, powered by six engines and resembling a flattened, large strategic bomber.
