Planet Models 141 Heinkel P.1080 Ramjet Fighter

Heinkel P.1080 was a project of a German rocket propelled fighter from the Second World War. The drive was probably supposed to be provided by two motors Lorin-Rohr and four auxiliary starter engines. The deck armament was to consist of two 30mm Mk.108 cannons. The plane has never been tested, much less entered mass production.

At the end of World War II, German aviation manufacturers, including the Heinkel plant, developed many projects for jet and rocket fighters as part of the so-called Jägernotprogramm. This program was to lead to the design and start of mass production of completely new types of fighter planes. One of such planes was to be The Heinkel P.1080, which had two rocket engines installed on the sides of the fuselage, also did not have the classic horizontal tail. The wings of the new fighter were very similar to those that would be used in the designed P.1078 aircraft. The new machine was to be characterized by good maneuverability and a high maximum speed slightly exceeding 1000 km / h. However, the design of the Heinkel P.1080 aircraft was never implemented, nor was it a prototype.
