The Type 92 howitzer is a Japanese 70mm towed gun from the Second World War. The weapon had a rate of fire of up to 10 rounds per minute, and the initial velocity of the projectile fired from it was up to 198 m / s. The maximum range when firing classic high-explosive ammunition reached 2.7 km, and the practical one - 1.4 km.
The Type 92 light howitzer was the primary support weapon for Japanese infantry battalions during World War II. Two of these guns were assigned to the battalion. It was used to directly support an onslaught or defense of one's own infantry, as well as harassing fire. It is considered one of the best weapons of this type from the Second World War. It was characterized by a considerable simplicity of construction, high reliability, it was also very light (weight: 212 kg!) And easy to transport in mountainous or jungle terrain. It was also a modern weapon, with good optical instrumentation. It was also often used as a mortar at distances of 100-200 meters. It was used extensively during the Pacific War of 1941-1945.
