Jeżyk is the name of a Polish training and training glider in the high wing configuration from the interwar period and, above all, from the post-war period. The first examples of this glider under this name (Jeżyk) appeared over the Polish skies in 1948. The overall length of the aircraft was 6.5 meters with a wingspan of 13.5 meters. The weight of the structure was 250 kilograms, and the maximum speed was around 250 km / h.
The Jeżyk glider is, in fact, another name for the very successful German Grunau Baby II glider, which was constructed by Wolf Hirth for the Schneider company in 1932. This aircraft turned out to be one of the most popular gliders of the 1930s and was exported to many countries around the world. The glider was also exported to Poland, where in the interwar period, its own German name was used to name it. However, after 1945, from the elements left behind by the Germans, gliders under the name Jeżyk began to be assembled in Jeżów, and later they were manufactured "from scratch". Jeżyki were the first gliders used on a large scale after 1945 in Polish flying clubs. However, they were withdrawn quite quickly - by 1952.
