Collegiate Basilica of St. Peter and Paul in Kruszwica (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) is one of the best-preserved Romanesque churches in Poland. Work on the collegiate church probably began at the beginning of the 12th century, and around 1140 the main bricklaying works were completed. Probably at that time the church was the seat of the bishopric, which in 1148 was transferred to W³oc³awek. In the 16th century, a brick tower was added to the church, and at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, the interior of the building was influenced by the Baroque. In the years 1856-1859, attempts were made to rebuild the temple in the neo-Gothic style with neo-Romanesque elements, which was successful - fortunately! - only partially. During the restoration works in the years 1954-1956, the basilica was restored to its original, Romanesque shape. The basilica in Kruszwica is a three-nave, pillar structure with a transept, erected on a Latin cross plan. It also has five apses.
