Ardpol 72-025 L.V.G. C.II

The LVG C.II was a German fixed-landing biplane reconnaissance plane with a wooden structure from the First World War. The drive was provided by a single motor Mercedes D.III with a power of 160 hp. The flight of the prototype took place at the end of 1915 - shortly after, serial production began, which led to the creation of about 300 aircraft of this type. The deck armament usually consisted of two 7.92 mm machine guns. The plane could carry bombs weighing up to 60 kilograms.

LVG C.II was created as a development of the LVG BI aircraft in relation to its predecessor the new plane had a revised propulsion unit with more power and a greater curb and take-off weight. It also featured a reinforced fuselage and wings structure. Airplanes of this type were used primarily on the Western Front, and the most famous action in which they took part was the London bombing raid in November 1916. At the turn of 1916 and 1917, all aircraft of this type were withdrawn from service. After the end of World War I, over a dozen LVG C.II machines were used by Polish aviation, where they served until 1921.
