HCP 301D (another designation: SP45 series) is a series of universal diesel locomotives, which was produced in the years 1970-1976 at the Hipolit Cegielski in Poznañ (abbreviated: HCP). The service weight of a single locomotive is 102 tons, and its length with buffers is 18.9 m. Wheel diameter is 1100 mm, with the Co'Co axis system. A total of 270 locomotives of this type were built. The first prototype of the HCP 301D locomotive was presented in 1967, but it required further research and development, as a result of which - above all - a different drive unit was used. Finally, the series HCP 301D locomotives were powered by a 2112SF diesel engine with a rated power of 1700-1750 HP, produced under the license of the Fiat concern. The HCP 301D locomotives were used primarily to haul large freight and fast passenger rolling stock. Over time, as the electrification of Polish railway lines progressed, they were shifted to regional and secondary lines.
