Master SM-700-051 USN 14in/50 (35,6 cm) gun barrels - for turrets with blastbags (12pcs) - New Mexico (BB-40) and Tennessee (BB-43) classes

The 14inch / 50 caliber gun is an American 356 mm naval cannon from the interwar period and both world wars. The weapon was developed in 1916 and entered service with the US Navy in 1918. The gun was designed by the Bureau of Ordnance and the Washington Navy Yard was responsible for its production. The total weight of the gun - in its first version - was about 81,450 kilograms, and its barrel was 18.1 meters long. The maximum rate of fire of this gun was up to 2 shots per minute, and the initial velocity of the shells was around 860 m / s. In turn, the maximum range was about 33,600 meters. The presented gun was originally developed as the main armament of the Lexington-class battleships, as well as the New Mexico, Tennessee and North Carolina-class battleships. It was installed in 2-, 3- and 4-gun towers. It is worth noting that the 3-gun turrets with these guns were the first in the US Navy that allowed for independent raising and lowering of individual guns in the turret. It is assumed that compared to the 14inch / 45 caliber gun, the presented gun had better ballistic properties and better penetration of the ship's armor. It also had a better maximum range.
