Modelsvit 72010 Mikoyan-Guriewicz MiG I-3U(I-420)

The MiG I-3U was a Soviet prototype fighter aircraft from the post-war period. A prototype flight took place in 1956, but the machine was not put into production. The drive was provided by a single Klimov VK-3 turbojet engine with a thrust of 82.4 kN. The length of the machine was 15.78 meters with a wingspan of 8.98 meters. The on-board armament consisted of two 30mm NR-30 cannons. The I-3U aircraft was developed at the Mikojan-Guriewicz design office as a development of the I-3 prototype machine. Compared to the original, it was characterized by a shorter length of the fuselage and a completely changed design of the front of the machine, which could now accommodate a new fire control system and a new radar. In the I-3U, the emphasis was primarily on achieving the highest possible maximum speed and climbing speed, which reflected somewhat limited maneuvering capabilities. The flight tests of the machine took place in the years 1956-1958, and during them the machine made 34 flights.
