S-12 Szkwał is a short series of Polish motorboats, which were built by the shipyard "Wisła" in Gdańsk. The first prototypes appeared in the early 1980s, and serial production continued in the years 1983-1990. The total length of the production boats was 11.6 meters, the overall width was 4.56 meters, and the maximum speed was 41.3 knots. The drive was provided by two diesel engines with a total nominal power of 1000 HP. The S-12 Squall was dedicated to service - initially - in the Border Protection Forces, and later served in the Polish Border Guard as a fast intervention and pursuit motorboat with little autonomy. The S-12 had several significant disadvantages - first of all, it could accelerate to the maximum speed with waves reaching up to 3 on the Beaufort scale, it also had low seaworthiness, high fuel consumption and the inability to take criminals or survivors on board. For these reasons, motorboats of this type were put into reserve quite quickly, and some of them were handed over to the Lithuanian Border Police.
