The Yokosuka K1Y was a Japanese biplane training and training aircraft from the interwar period. The machine was first tested in 1925 - it also entered mass production in the same year. In its course, slightly more than 100 aircraft of this type were created. The drive - in the K1Y2 version - was provided by a single 130 HP engine. The length of the machine was 8.68 meters with a wingspan of 10.21 meters. The machine did not have a permanent on-board armament.

In 1924, the command of the Japanese Navy decided to develop a new training machine that would replace the I-go-Ko-gata and Avro 504 planes in the line. covered with canvas, with a fixed - float undercarriage. However, the machine turned out to be successful - it was characterized by relatively low production and operating costs, as well as numerous utility values. The machine was the primary training aircraft for naval aviators until 1933, when it began to be replaced by the Yokosuka K4Y. It is worth adding that two main versions of the Yokosuka K1Y were created: K1Y1 (machine with a wheel undercarriage) and K1Y2 (with a float undercarriage).
