The 7.5 cm Infanteriegeschutz 37 (IG37) was a German towed 75mm infantry gun from the Second World War. Its first prototypes were built in 1944, and serial production began in the same year. The initial velocity of the high-impact shell fired from this gun was up to 280 m / s, and the maximum range was up to 5,200 meters.
The IG37 cannon was created as a cannon accompanying infantry units. This weapon was characterized by a small silhouette and a relatively low weight, which positively influenced its maneuverability on the battlefield. Its big advantage was the ability to fire both high-explosive and HEAT shells, which allowed them to penetrate 90 mm thick armor from a distance of about 500 meters. The weapon had a wedge lock and a double-tailed bed. The IG37 gun was built at the Krupp factory by mounting a modernized 75 mm gun barrel on the carrier of the retired PaK 36 anti-tank gun.
