Planet Models 239 P-64/ NA-68 "US Fighter"

The North American P-64 (another designation: NA-68) was an American low-wing fighter from the Second World War. The prototype flight took place in 1940. The drive was provided by a single 950 HP Wright R-1820 G-5 engine. The length of the aircraft was 8.23 meters with a wingspan of 11.35 meters. The deck armament consisted of 2 20mm cannons and 4 7.62mm machine guns. The machine could also carry a load of bombs weighing up to 180 kilograms.

The P-64 model was created at the North American Aviation factory as a de facto development of the NA-16 training aircraft, and indirectly as an improved version of the NA-50. Compared to its training and training prototype, it was powered by a much more powerful engine, had improved aerodynamic properties, and had slightly different dimensions. Of course, its performance was also much better. Originally, the P-64 was designed for the Thai air force, but the purchase was never made, and the finished units were taken over by the American military aviation, where they were used for advanced training.
