Tx4 (other designations: series D3 or Tx23) is a series of narrow-gauge steam locomotives (steam locomotives), which were manufactured in 1923 at the Hanomag plant in Hanover. The length of the locomotive (without tender) is 6.65 meters and 1.8 meters wide. The service weight was 19.9 tons. The diameter of the driving wheels was 630 mm, and the axles were constructed in the Dn2t system. In total, 15 locomotives of this type were built.
The Tx4 steam locomotive was commissioned by the Polish State Railways (PKP), which aimed at acquiring a possibly cheap and reliable narrow-gauge locomotive for tracks with a width of 600 mm. The locomotives were equipped with twin, two-cylinder steam engines, generating a rated power of 140 HP, which allowed to reach a maximum speed of 25 km / h. It is worth adding that in the interwar period, some examples were rebuilt to suit the tracks with a track gauge of 750 mm. During World War II, the Germans confiscated 13 steam locomotives of this type and used them in the General Government. In 1947, the locomotives returned to PKP - already under the designation Tx23. A few locomotives of this type have survived until now.
