The Eagle (Russian: Oryol) is a 17th-century Russian sailing frigate, ordered in 1667, launched in 1668, and entered service a year later (1669). The total length of the ship was 24.5 m and 6.5 m wide. The displacement was about 250 tons. The crew consisted of a total of 58 people. On-board armament, on the other hand, consisted of 22 cannons. The Eagle frigate was commissioned by Tsar Alexei I Romanov, and its main purpose was to protect Russian trade units in the Caspian Sea. The unit was built in a shipyard in the city of Dedinowo on the Oka River. It is very often assumed that the Eagle was the first warship in modern history built from scratch in Russia. For this reason, despite her very short service, she is seen as a ship that symbolizes the birth of the Russian naval power. After being launched, the Eagle frigate reached the city of Astrakhan on the Caspian Sea by the Volga, but in 1670 it was captured by rebels during the Razin Uprising and completely destroyed. So it was never used in combat in the Caspian Sea.
