Russo-Bałt D24 / 40 is a fire truck from the beginning of the 20th century and during the First World War. The drive was provided by a single, 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 4.5 liters and 40 HP. The maximum speed of the car was 65 km / h, and its maximum load capacity did not exceed 1000 kilograms. The Russo-Bałt company , sometimes also called Russo-Baltique, was founded in 1869 in the city of Riga in the territory of the then tsarist Russia, and now in Latvia. Originally, the plants manufactured railway wagons for the needs of the Russian railway network, which was expanding in the second half of the 19th century, but in the years 1908-1923 it was involved in the production of various types of cars - on luxury limousines dedicated to the tsarist court, and ending with fire trucks. The latter type of vehicle was presented by the model Russo-Bałt D24 / 40, which was commissioned by the fire brigade of the city of Riga, and its production started just before the outbreak of World War I. One of the surviving copies of this unique car, somehow survived both world wars, the chaos of the October Revolution and the civil war in Russia, was found in 1976, and since 1978 has been on display at the Riga Automobile Museum.
