Fablok 1D (another designation: SM30 series) is a series of diesel locomotives that were produced in the years 1957-1970 at the Fablok plant in Chrzanów. The service weight of a single locomotive was 36 tons, and its length with buffers - 10.14 m. The diameter of the wheels was 850 mm, and the locomotive was built in the Bo'Bo 'axis system. In total, about 900-1000 locomotives of this type were built.
The SM30 series locomotive was developed in the years 1954-1955, and its public presentation took place in 1956 at the Poznañ International Fair. The locomotive was originally planned as a shunting locomotive and was dedicated to the needs of the Polish industry, but it was also used to haul light passenger and - especially - cargo rolling stock. The 300 HP Wola-V-Rok 300 engine was used as the drive, later replaced by a 350 HP unit. The locomotive had an electric transmission, and the brakes were based on automatic Knorr brakes. The body of the locomotive was placed on two two-axle bogies.
