The SNAR-10 Jaguar (NATO designation: Big Fred) is a Soviet post-war mobile artillery radar. He entered service in the Soviet Army in the mid-1970s. The length of the vehicle was 6.45 meters with a width of 2.86 meters. The drive was provided by a single engine JaMZ up to 280 hp. The secondary armament was a single 7.62 mm machine gun placed in a rotating turret. The SNAR-10 vehicle was an evolutionary development of the MT-LB armored personnel carrier and artillery tractor. It was based on the same chassis, fuselage and many mechanical components. As a result, the SNAR-10 was characterized by very good driving dynamics off-road and on the road. He was also able to overcome water obstacles without any special preparation. The main task of the SNAR-10 on the battlefield was to support its own mechanized and armored units as well as target targeting and localization. It is worth adding that the radar had the ability to detect not only land targets, but also (although to a very limited extent) - air and sea targets. The detection range for land targets was up to 16 kilometers. The vehicle was one of the most widespread vehicles of this type in the Soviet Army in the 1970s and 1980s, and was also used by the armed forces of other Warsaw Pact countries, including Poland.
