SZD-25 Lis was a Polish, single-seat, training glider with a mixed structure in the high wing configuration. The glider was developed In Szybowcowe Zak³ady Do¶wiadczalnych (SZD) with headquarters in Bielsko-Bia³a. The prototype flight took place in March 1960. Serial production started shortly after, which resulted in the production of about 30 examples of this glider. The curb weight was 231 kilograms.
Work on the SZD-25 began in 1959 in connection with an order placed by the Aero Club of the Polish People's Republic for a training glider with parameters similar to the already used SZD-22 Mucha Standard, but cheaper to produce and less complex in terms of construction. Work on the SZD-25 was carried out in a team led by Eng. Zbigniew Badura relatively quickly, and the new glider uses many elements from other gliders (especially SZD-16 and SZD-22). However, the first prototype turned out to be highly unsuccessful and required a lot of corrections, especially in terms of flight stability. However, after a few months of work, the SZD-25 was improved and went into serial production, which was undertaken by the aviation plant in Krosno. Of the 30 gliders, 12 were exported.
