The Junkers F.13 was a German low-wing transport and passenger plane with a fixed landing gear. The drive in the basic version was usually provided by a single BMW IIIa engine with 185 HP. The first flight of this machine took place in 1919, and serial production started a year later. The plane did not have permanent weapons.
The Junkers F.13 was the world's first all-metal airliner. Its construction paid off with the experience gained by the Junkers label and its creator - Hugo Junkers - from the work on the Junkers D I fighter. Interestingly, due to the limitations of the Versailles Treaty, the United States turned out to be the first market for this successful machine. In the course of serial production, several development versions were created, which, however, differ almost exclusively in the drive units used, with - most often - systematically increasing maximum power. In the interwar period, the plane was operated in many countries, including Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile and Finland, but also in Poland. The quality of the machine is evidenced by the fact that some of its copies were still in use in the 1940s!
