Ardpol AC-004 Siddeley Puma engine

The Siddeley Puma is a British aircraft engine from World War I and the interwar period. Mass production started in July 1917 and ended in December 1918. In total, about 4,250 engines of this type were built, out of more than 11,000 ordered. It is worth adding that after the takeover of The Siddeley-Deasy Motor Car Company Limited in Coventry by Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd, the production continued under the name Armstrong Siddeley Puma. The engine was 117.5 cm long, 61 cm wide and 110.7 cm high. The weight of the "dry" power unit of this type was 293 kilograms. The engine had 6 in-line cylinders, was water-cooled, and was capable of generating a maximum power of 265 HP at 1500 rpm. The Siddeley Puma engine was clearly based on the successful Beardmore-Halford-Pullinger (BHP for short), which was produced from 1916. However, the Siddeley Puma turned out to be an emergency engine, difficult to handle and install. Despite this, it was used on Airco DH.9 aircraft, the prototype Short Silver Starek, and after modernization, also on the Vickers 6-Ton tank.
