Trumpeter 02333 Soviet D-20 152mm towed Gun-Howitzer

The D-20 gun howitzer (another designation: M1955) is a Soviet 152 mm towed gun from the post-war era. The initial speed of the high-explosive shell from this gun is up to 655 m / s, with a maximum range of about 17,400 meters. The rate of fire of the weapon, with a well-trained crew, was up to 5-6 shots per minute.

Design work on the D-20 howitzer probably began shortly after World War II, and most likely in 1947 its first prototypes were available. However, the weapon was presented to the public for the first time in 1955. The D-20 howitzer is characterized by a relatively low curb weight for a weapon of this type and caliber, it also had good range and rate of fire. The weapon had a double-tailed bed and a barrel with a muzzle brake. In the course of service in the Red Army, the gun was also adapted to firing missiles with chemical and nuclear warheads. Most often it was towed by Ural-375D or Tatra 813 trucks. The D-20 armatohaubica was exported to many countries, such as: Angola, Bulgaria, Iraq, Syria, Cuba or Vietnam. This type of weapon was used in combat, among others: in the Six Day War (1967), the Yom-Kippur War (1973) or the War in Afghanistan (1979-1989).
