The Świnoujście lighthouse is a contemporary Polish lighthouse in the city of Świnoujście (West Pomeranian Voivodeship). The first genuine lighthouse in Świnoujście was built in 1805, and therefore during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1828 it was replaced with a steel structure. However, the construction of the current lighthouse in this city began in 1854 and lasted until 1857 - it was also put into operation in the same year. The building was made of brick, and the height of the lighthouse tower was as high as 67.7 meters, which even today makes it one of the tallest buildings of this type in the world! Such a high height also required the use of adequate wall thickness, reaching 1.7-1.9 meters at the base. In the period 1902-1903, the lighthouse underwent a major renovation, mainly caused by significant losses in the construction material used. At that time, the building turned from an octagonal shape to a round one. Its range of white light is 24 nautical miles (NM), or approx. 46 kilometers, and the range of red light, 9 nautical miles (NM), or approx. 17.4 kilometers.
