USS Chevalier (DD-805) was an American destroyer from World War II and the Cold War. The keel for this unit was laid in June 1944, and the launch took place in October 1944. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 119 meters and a width of 12.4 meters. Full displacement reached approx. 3,500 tons, and the maximum speed reached approx. 35-37 knots. The armament at the time of the launch consisted of: six 127 mm guns, 12 40 mm cannons and 10 533 mm torpedo tubes.

USS Chevalier (DD-805) was one of the Gearing-class destroyers. Units of this type were designed in connection with the pursuit of the US Navy to obtain units with a greater range and significantly improved capabilities to counter air targets in relation to Allen M. Sumner class units. Compared to their predecessors, they were mainly lengthened amidships. After the end of World War II, many Gearing-class destroyers remained in service and were modernized. One of the destroyers of this class was just USS Chevalier, which was built at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. The unit reached the Pacific only in August 1945. In the period 1946-1949, the destroyer served in the Western Pacific. USS Chevalier (already as DDR-805) took an active part in the Korean War (1950-1953). After its completion, the destroyer continued to operate in the Pacific Ocean, and in 1962 its original designation was restored - DD-805. The unit also took part in the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975). However, in 1972, he was removed from the US Navy and transferred to the South Korean fleet, where he served under the name ROKS Chung Buk until 2000.
