At the start of World War II, Romanian field artillery relied primarily on weapons of French and Czechoslovak origin. These weapons were most often imported or, less frequently, licensed in Romania. Examples include the French 75 mm gun (Romanian: Tunul de Camp 7.5 cm Mod.1897), developed before the outbreak of World War I, or the Czechoslovak 100 mm howitzer (Romanian Obuzierul 10 cm Mod.1934). Moreover, the Romanian artillery was still dominated by horse traction, and mechanical vehicles were used mainly for towing heavy and the heaviest artillery. It is worth adding that Romanian anti-tank artillery - at the beginning of World War II - was based on 37 mm cannons and three different types of 47 mm cannons. It is also difficult to talk about the unification of weapons in the field of anti-aircraft artillery, which used cannons and cannons from France, Germany, Sweden and Great Britain with calibers from 13.2 mm to 75 mm.
