Hobby Boss 82472 ZSD-89 APC

The Type 89 (another designation: ZSD-89 or WZ-534) is a modern Chinese armored tracked transporter. The first prototypes of the vehicle were probably created in the 1980s, and around 1990 mass production started. The truck is powered by a single Deutz diesel engine BF8L 413F with 320 hp. The armament is a single machine gun QJC88 cal. 12.7 mm placed in a rotating turret.

The Type 89 was developed by the Norinco concern, based on the Type 85 vehicle. Despite launching production, probably around 1990, it entered the line only at the end of the 1990s. The vehicle is capable of taking up to 13 troops in full equipment. The protection is provided by armor made of steel plates that protects against small-caliber firearms with a caliber of up to 12.7 mm and against artillery fragments. The vehicle is also capable of negotiating water obstacles without any special preparation. Many variants of this vehicle were created in the course of series production. The basic version is the Type 89. Its development is an infantry fighting vehicle armed with a 25 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun (designation: Type 89-II or ZSD-89-II). An observation vehicle dedicated to artillery units, designated as WZ-731, was also built. Outside China, the Type 89 is used by Ethiopia, Sri-Lanka and Zimbabwe.
