English version
Jagdpanther.
One of the most characteristic types of German weapons of the Second World War were the Jagdpanzer tracked tank destroyers. Among them, the Jagdpanther, produced from January 1944, is probably the most recognizable. This vehicle, based on the chassis of the Pz.Kpfw. V, on which a closed combat compartment with an 88 mm caliber gun was installed, was installed in the Brunswick MIAG and MNH plants in Hanover until the last spring of the war. He made his combat debut in the summer of 1944 on the Western Front. Over time, he joined the German, independent, heavy tank destroyer squadrons and subunits of this type in armored divisions, arousing fear in the ranks of the anti-Nazi coalition. The main assumption of the publication is to present the history and construction details of the title vehicle. In addition to the archival photographs of the Jagdpanther cars from the collections of the Kagero and Bundesarchiv Publishing House, the differences between the machines of individual producers occurring in subsequent production periods, allow to bring closer the drawings, three-dimensional visualizations, as well as photographs of copies preserved in museums around the world (until today seven machines have survived). The whole is complemented by a set of colorful silhouettes developed on the basis of source materials, showing exemplary paint schemes applied to tank destroyers based on the chassis of the famous Panther.
