The Tsybin RSR (NM-1) was a Soviet Cold War strategic reconnaissance aircraft project. The prototype's flight took place in 1959, but the machine never entered production. The length of this aircraft was 26.57 meters with a wingspan of 10.48 meters. The NM-1 was powered by two Mikulin AM-5 turbojet engines, each 49 kN thrust. The machine was not supposed to have on-board weapons.
The genesis of the Tsybin NM-1 prototype goes back to the unsuccessful design of the Tsybin RS and 2RS strategic bomber, which was converted into a strategic reconnaissance aircraft. In the planned, new machine, special emphasis was placed on the lowest possible aerodynamic drag and the highest possible top speed, exceeding 3 Ma. The design of this new aircraft was called RSR, and based on the resulting plans, a flying prototype was constructed, designated NM-1. As a result of the tests, it was decided to change the power units in serial aircraft, as well as improve maneuverability. Ultimately, however, at the stage of assembling the pre-series units, the entire project was canceled.
