MS Trollfjord is the name of a modern Norwegian passenger ferry. The keel for the vessel was laid in April 2001, and the launch took place in October of the same year. The ship's baptism ceremony took place in May 2002. The total length of the vessel is 135.8 meters with a width of 21.5 meters and a draft of 5.1 meters. The maximum speed of the ferry does not exceed 18 knots. However, its crew consists of approx. 170 people. The MS Trollfjord was constructed to serve a shipping route called Hurtigruten, which was established in the late 19th century. Today Hurtigruten is considered to be one of the oldest and most famous Norwegian ferry connections, and the shipping route itself stretches from Bergen to Kirkenes, which is silent along the entire Norwegian coast. The MS Trollfjord that floats on it is characterized by great maneuverability, good seaworthiness and is equipped with modern navigation equipment. It can take up to 823 passengers on board and has seven decks. It is worth adding that its passengers can use a restaurant, bistro or sauna.
MS Midnatsol is a modern Norwegian ferry of Swedish-Norwegian production. The keel under this vessel was laid in 2001, the launch took place in April 2002, and the commissioning took place in March 2003. The length of the unit is 135.8 meters, and the width is 21.5 meters. The maximum speed is 18 knots. MS Midnatsol is currently operated by Norwegian shipping lines Hurtigruten, as is its sister ship MS Trollfjord. The vessel was built at the shipyards: Bruces Verkstad in Sweden and Fosen mekaniske verksteder in Norway. Currently, the unit operates a ferry connection between the cities of Bergen and Kirkenes. Several months after entering service, MS Midnatsol had serious problems with the propulsion during one of the voyages, which almost led to the evacuation of passengers from the ship. In 2015, a fire broke out on the ship, but thanks to the immediate response of the crew, it was put out in less than an hour and did not cause any serious damage to the ferry.
