The Dodge Challenger is an American sports car that was first presented to the public in 1970. Its serial production was carried out in the years 1970-1974 and 1978-1983 and from 2008 to the present. Production of the first generation of this model took place in the cities of Hamtramck and Los Angeles in the United States.
The Challenger was designed and launched into production as Dodge's response to the Ford Mustang, Mercury Cougar and - to a lesser extent - the Chevrolet Camaro. The first generation of the car belonged to the so-called pony car, created de facto by the Ford Mustang. The car featured rich equipment, luxuriously finished interior and offered a wide range of engines with displacement from 3.2 to 7.2 liters. The second generation, mainly by name, referred to its predecessor and was produced in the years 1978-1983. It also offered a smaller range of engines with a much smaller capacity. Interestingly, it was produced in the city of Okazaki, Japan. Finally, the third and so far last generation went into production in 2008, competing on the market with successive generations of Mustang and Camaro. It offers powerful power units with a power of up to 707 HP!
