Cannon 7,5 cm KwK 37 L / 24 is a German 75mm short-barrel tank gun from the Second World War. The cannon was primarily designed to support one's own infantry, not as an anti-tank cannon. Therefore, its ability to destroy enemy armored vehicles was highly limited. The gun was used on the Pz.Kpfw. IV to version F and Pz.Kpfw. III Ausf. N, as well as on early Sturmgeschütz (StuG) III armor guns. It was also used on some models of the Sd.Kfz car. 233 and Sd.Kfz. 234/3. Several types of ammunition were used in this gun. The first was the Panzergranate (PzGr.) 39/1, which was an APCBC (Armor Piercing, Capped, with Ballistic Cap - High Explosive) missile, i.e. an anti-tank core missile with a ballistic cap. The initial speed was only 385 m / s. Such a missile could penetrate an armor plate with a slope of 30 degrees, 46 mm thick over a distance of 1000 meters, 42 mm thick at a distance of 1500 meters and 38 mm at a distance of 2000 meters. A very similar cartridge was the PzGr. 39/2, which had slightly better penetration capabilities when shooting at 1000 and 1500 meters. Granate (Gr.) 38 missiles in the HI, HI / A, HI / B and HI / C versions were also used. The initial velocity of both of these missiles was up to 450 m / s. The last version (HI / c) could penetrate 115 mm thick armor inclined at an angle of 30 degrees over a distance of 1500-2000 meters. Sprenggranate 34 (Sprgr.34) shells were also used in the KwK 37 gun.
