D-5T is an 85 mm tank gun from the WWII period of Soviet production. The first prototypes of the gun were created in 1943, and its serial production started at the beginning of 1944. The cannon had a barrel length of 52 calibers, or 442 centimeters. The average maximum velocity of a shell fired from this gun was up to 792 m / s, and the rate of fire - with a well-trained crew - ranged from 7 to 10 shots per minute. The presented gun was developed by a team led by General F. Petrov and was a modernization of the M1939 52-K anti-aircraft gun of the same caliber. It was a rifled, wedge-lock, vertical-movement cannon with a semi-automatic mechanism of action. It also had an electric drop-off mechanism. It is worth adding that it was structurally very similar to the ZiS-S-53 gun of the same caliber, produced in parallel. Cannon D-5T with several types of missiles, including full-caliber anti-tank missiles. (AP), APCBC (APCBC) as well as full-caliber anti-tank missiles. with a hardened core (APCR). By firing the latter projectile, the D-5T could penetrate an armor plate inclined at an angle of 90 degrees with a thickness of 136 mm at 500 meters and 100 mm at 1000 meters. This gun was the main armament of the SU-85 tank destroyers and the first mass-produced T-34/85 vehicles.
