The Airbus A318 is a short- and medium-range, twin-engine low-wing airliner, primarily French-German production. The drive is provided by two Pratt and Whitney PW6000 or CFM International CFM56 turbofan engines. The flight of the prototype took place in 2002, and serial production started in 2003 and lasted until 2013. In total, 80 machines of this type were built. The unit cost of this machine is estimated at EUR 63 million. 2018 prices.

The Airbus A318 is the smallest representative of the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, and design work on it began in 1999. Its creation was related to the demands of some airlines, interested in obtaining the most economical possible aircraft capable of carrying approx. 130 passengers over short and medium distances. Airbus' response to this demand turned out to be the A318. Ultimately, the A318 version can carry up to 132 passengers over a distance of up to 5,700 kilometers. It also puts emphasis on high automation of the aircraft, maximum reduction of operating costs, as well as high reliability. Currently, Airbus A318 users are such airlines as, for example: Air France-KLM, Avianca Brazil, TAROM and British Airways.
