Saturn IB is the collective name for a series of large, US-made space launch rockets from the Cold War period. The total length of the rocket was 68.3 meters with a diameter of 6.61 meters. The total mass of the "empty" rocket is approximately 590 tons. The first successful launch of the rocket took place in February 1966 and the last one in July 1975. During this period, a total of 9 take-off attempts were made, all of which were successful. The Saturn IB rocket was commissioned by NASA as a far-reaching development of the Saturn I rocket. The main producers of components for the presented rocket were Chrysler Corporation and Douglas Aircraft Corporation. Design work on the new carrier rocket began de facto at the turn of 1959/1960, but accelerated after the initiation of the Apollo program in 1961. The main goal that was tried to achieve when building the Saturn IB rocket was to significantly increase the mass of loads carried into orbit. To a large extent, this assumption was achieved, which resulted in the implementation of a total of 9 space missions, including those related to, for example, the delivery of cargo to the American orbital station Skylab.
