Gun 10.5 cm leFH 18 (full name: leichte Feldhaubitze 18) is a German 105 mm towed howitzer from the interwar period and World War II. The gun was developed by the Rheinmetall company as a successor to the 7.7 cm FK 16 77 mm gun, which was still in the times of the First World War. It entered service in 1935 and remained with the Wehrmacht until the end of the next World War. During this armed conflict, it was modernized and served as the main armament of the Wespe self-propelled gun. It is assumed that the average muzzle velocity of a projectile fired from the 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzer was up to 470 m / s. It is also worth remembering that the howitzer was capable of firing 28 types of missiles, including: Feldhaubitze (FH) Granate 38 FES (bullet weight: 14.8 kg), FH Granate 38 (14.6 kg), FH Granate 39 (13.5 kg) FH Granate 40 Deut FES (15.3 kg) or FH Granate 40 Nb FES (15.3 kg). Of course, the main types were high-explosive and high-explosive shells, and their total mass reached approx. 15 - 15.5 kilograms. Such missiles could be fired at a distance of about 10,700 meters, as this was the maximum range of the 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzer.
