The Avia Av-14 was a Czechoslovakian passenger and transport aircraft from the Cold War period in an all-metal low wing structure. The prototype's flight took place in 1956, and shortly thereafter, the machine entered mass production. In total, 203 examples of this aircraft were built. Avia Av-14 was a license version of the Soviet Iljushin Il-14 aircraft, which was created as a much improved version of the Il-12 machine. The technical documentation for the Il-14M version arrived in Czechoslovakia as early as 1954, but the first prototype took off two years later. Interestingly, however, the Avia Av-14 was developed in Czechoslovakia and many versions were created in the course of production, including: Av-14-24 (version designed to carry 24 passengers), Av-14-40 (version for 40 passengers), Av -14S (version intended for the transport of VIPs, in practice communist dignitaries, with extended range) or Av-14 Super (model with a pressurized cabin and extended range). Like its Soviet original, it was characterized by a great simplicity of construction and was able to operate from airports whose runways were not of the best quality.
