The BA-9 was a Soviet armored car from the interwar period and World War II. The first prototypes of this vehicle were made in the mid-1930s. Production started shortly after - in 1936. The car was powered by a single, 4-cylinder GAZ M-1 50 HP engine and was armed with two 7.62 and 12.7 mm machine guns. The BA-9 was created as a modernization of the BA-6 armored car, and there are many similarities between the two vehicles. The BA-9 was based on the GAZ-AAA chassis. Compared to its predecessor, it differed in a different turret shape, a new propulsion unit, the use of the 71-TK-1 radio, as well as other main weapons, which did not include a 45 mm gun. In addition, the BA-9 was lighter and slightly more maneuverable. Its top speed has also increased significantly - from 43 km / h to 55 km / h. BA-9 armored cars were used at the beginning of World War II.
