The Canadair CL-415 (another designation: Bombardier CL-416) is a Canadian two-engine fire-fighting flying boat. The drive is provided by two Pratt and Whitney Canada PW123AF engines with a capacity of 2380 HP each. The flight of the prototype took place in 1993, and serial production was carried out in the years 1993-2015. About 90 aircraft of this type were built in its course. The unit cost of the plane is estimated at 37 million Canadian dollars according to 2014 prices.
The CL-415 was developed at the Canadair aviation plant based on another machine from that company: the CL-215. Compared to the original, the new machine had more powerful engines, a reinforced fuselage and richer avionics and navigation equipment. It is also able to carry much more water on board for firefighting. The aircraft's resistance to corrosion and mechanical damage has also been significantly increased. Externally, however, both planes (Cl-215 and CL-415) are similar to each other. Canadair CL-415 is used by fire services in countries such as Canada, Greece and Italy.
