Aut¿yro Cierva was a great step towards the development of helicopters. It was the first autogyre construction in which the engine operated the propellers directly in order to take off. The machine was a structure built by the Spanish aviator Juan de La Cierva. He wanted to construct a stall-resistant flying ship. He concluded that if the wings were allowed to rotate freely, they would rotate in glide and descent like maple seeds. It turned out to be true. He was a pioneer in the field of gyroplanes. Cierva provided the fuselage with freely rotating wings, the progenitor of the modern rotor. That's how he ran his rehearsals. But these wings (modern shovels) often broke off. This is how he came to his greatest invention. It was an articulated blade suspension. It prevented the rotor blades from breaking off during the flight. The first air show was carried out at Farnborough Air Force Base in Great Britain. Pierre did a lot of different experiments and noticed that a forward-moving blade gives more lift than a rearward-moving blade. To compensate for this, he used cyclic blade control. It was the first gyroplane with full possibility of hovering motionless in the air. Over 100 were built, most of which went to the RAF and served in liaison squadrons and military schools. One C.30, labeled G-ACUT, was used to film the Wembley final in 1936. Telescopic lenses were used then, as the Ministry of Aviation limited the lower limit of flights to 500 feet. The production of the Ciervy truck was handled by the British Aircraft Manufacturing Co. Auto¿ra C.30 was also exported to France. In 1936, the La Ciervy construction made a perfectly vertical ascent (G-ACWF machine), but as a result of an accident the designer lost his life at the Craydon airport. Work continued until 1938, but no autogyro was built in Great Britain. During World War II, Autojra C.30 served in the 529 Squadron Auto¿yro, formed at the air base in Duxfors. They were mainly used to interact with radar stations in order to calibrate them. The squadron was disbanded in 1945. A Sikorsky helicopter was then built on the basis of the La Cierva C.40A design. The gyroplanes had and have a short run-up and an even shorter run. They were advertised as the aircraft of the future. They seemed to have a bright future. This was the way to construct a helicopter. Then interest in them faded. They couldn't maneuver like a helicopter. So hang, fly sideways or backwards. As a curiosity, it can be mentioned that the gyroplanes were used by the Kriegsmarine in cooperation with the U-bootwaffe. Currently, gyroplanes are the domain of amateur constructions.
