Ardpol 72-014 Consolidated NY-1

The Consolidated NY-1 was an American fixed landing gear biplane training aircraft from the interwar period. A prototype flight took place in 1925, and the machine entered the line in 1926. The plane was 9.56 meters long with a wingspan of 12.19 meters. The drive was provided by a single 220 HP Wright R-760-8 Whirlwind engine. The maximum speed of the aircraft reached 145 km / h. The machine did not have a permanent on-board armament.

Consolidated NY-1 was commissioned by the US Navy as a new training plane. In essence, it was an almost exact copy of the Consolidated PT-1 aircraft that had already been used for training tasks by the US Air Force. However, it differed from it in slightly enlarged dimensions and the power unit. Several NY-1 upgrades were developed in the course of production, the most important of which are the NY-2 (version with a modified wingspan) and the NY-3 (NY-2 version with a more powerful engine). Aircraft of this type remained in the line until the mid-1930s, when the process of their decommissioning began.
