The Douglas DC-2 is an American passenger and transport aircraft with a full metal structure, powered by two Wright Cyclone GR-F53 engines with a power of 734KM each. In 1934. Douglas constructed the DC-2 transport plane, the predecessor of the famous DC-3 from 1936. Douglas presented the prototype DC-1 model that meets the TWA requirements, on the basis of which the production version of the DC-2 was created. TWA initially placed an order for 20 copies. Further orders were placed by other US and European airlines. In Europe, the DC-2 flew, among others, in the colors of KLM, LOT, Swissair. Airplanes for European customers were assembled at Fokker plants. There were also military versions used by the Air Force and the US Navy. A total of 156 were built. During the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), Republican troops converted a civilian DC-2 into a bomber, but the plane was confiscated at the Seville airport by Nationalist forces.
