Ford-6 (another designation: Ford G8T) is an American military truck from the World War II period. The first prototype vehicles of this type appeared in 1942, and series production began a year later. The drive was provided by a single 6-cylinder Ford G8T engine 3.7 liter capacity and 90 HP. The car was 6.51 meters long and 2.29 meters wide. The maximum load capacity was 1,500 kilograms.
Ford-6 was developed and put into production by the Ford Motors Company concern. In order to shorten development work and reduce costs, it was decided to use the civilian Ford 2G8T truck. However, it was decided to strengthen the structure of the car and change the engine in it. During World War II, a large number of these trucks were sent to the USSR and Great Britain under the Lend-and-Lease program. It is assumed that about 6,000 vehicles of this type were sent to the Soviet Union alone. The Ford-6 was also used by the American armed forces as a transport truck, but also in specialized versions as, for example, a workshop car (designations: M14A and M14B).
